What Is God’s Judgment?

From Robert Lawrence Kuhn, host and creator of Closer To Truth:

“God’s judgment” strikes fear and dread. Every religion thunders its day of reckoning, few of them nice. We’ve all behaved in ways untoward, and settling ultimate accounts, should such be the case, forebodes no joy. But to me, because “God’s judgment” is supposed to be the core of “God’s plan,” to examine God’s judgment is to assess God’s existence.
Should it turn out that “the God of mercy” contradicts “the God of judgment,” then perhaps the whole God project is incoherent. If God does not exist, then the inconsistency of God’s judgment may be evidence to expose it.
If God does exist, and assuming God is merciful as well as just, maybe we’ve missed the meaning of God’s judgment.
So what is it, really?

Where Do the Laws of Nature Come From?

From Robert Lawrence Kuhn, host and creator of Closer To Truth:

I live my life, plan and do, worry and wonder. But whenever I slow down, step back, and ponder what it’s all about, I go to the laws of nature. Down deep, what are they? What makes them laws? And are they necessary, like the laws of logic? The universe and humanity—our origin and existence—depend on these laws. But where do the laws of nature come from?

Do Angels and Demons Exist?

From Robert Lawrence Kuhn, host and creator of Closer To Truth:

Two-thirds of all Americans believe not only that angels and demons exist, but also that they are “active in the world.” Skeptics are dumbfounded by such “archaic nonsense.”
To believe in nonphysical beings—souls or spirits without bodies or brains—in today’s world may seem, well, delusional. But there are serious scholars who take angels and demons seriously. Why?
Certainly, nonphysical beings would challenge the scientific worldview that only the physical is real. Certainly, angels and demons, in one form or another, populate most of the world’s religions. But do angels and demons really exist?

Is Mathematics Invented or Discovered?

From Robert Lawrence Kuhn, host and creator of Closer To Truth:

Mathematics describes the real world of atoms and acorns, stars and stairs. Simple abstract equations define complex physical things beautifully, elegantly. Why should this be? The more I think about it, the more astonished I get.
Albert Einstein said: “The most incomprehensible thing about the universe is that it is comprehensible.” Physicist Eugene Wigner wrote of “the unreasonable effectiveness of mathematics” in science. So is mathematics invented by humans, like chisels and hammers, cars and computers, music and art? Or is mathematics discovered, always out there, somewhere, like mysterious islands waiting to be found? The question probes the deepest secrets of existence.
